Web Design Articles: Help for Wannabe Pro Web Designers

Since I have FrontPage, do I have to learn all that nasty ol' HTML code?

FrontPageIn a word, “Yes.” There is no HTML editor that can do everything you can do with handcoding. While some will disagree with me, I don't see the WYSIWYG web editors as inherently evil. (WYSIWYG = What You See is What You Get: an optimistic label if ever there was one.)

However, you can't honestly call yourself a web designer or developer if you don't have a good understanding of what that web editor is doing combined with the ability to get your hands dirty to fix what that editor does wrong when the occasion arises. And believe me, that occasion will arise. You must be willing to learn the code! No passing Go, no collecting $200.

There's no good way around it, so just do it. You'll be glad you did.
